Within just under 78 minutes, Zheng Qinwen defeated local player Taylor Townsend 6-1, 7-6 to advance to the last 16 of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, equaling her best performance at the tournament set two years ago. In the next round, Zheng Qinwen will face another American player, world No. 40 Ashlyn Krueger, whom she defeated in the first round of last year's Australian Open.
